Successful ending of STIC AMSUD Project

 In September 2008 finalized the AMSUD-STIC project, a project funded by CONICYT (Chile), SECYT (Argentina), and MAE INRIA (France) and directed by Axel Osses.

The STIC-AMSUD project began in late 2006 and supported the activities directly related to groups of emissions, inverse modeling and Grid Cumputing of SAEMC. Among its major achievements are:

1. Reinforce the development of the SAEMC network between Chile (CMM-DIMEC-DGF) and Argentina (CNEA, FAMAF U. Cordoba) through the  cooperation missions between the two countries which the project funded.

2. It helped the integration to SAEMC GRID at an early stage of the Argentinean centers involved

3. It allowed the development of methodologies of source inversion applied to Latin American cities (Santiago and Buenos Aires) through cooperation missions that took place between the Argentine-Chilean groups and french groups CLIME-INRIA and CEREA-ENPC.

4. Contributed to the development of applications for the french chemica weather forecasting platform Polyphemus, which is currently used in the Chilean Weather Office.

5. Supported the organization of the first Workshop SAEMC in 2007 in Chile and in general to the dissemination of the activities of the respective SAEMC groups in France (various seminars CEREA-ENPC, IGAC 2008) and Argentina ( 4DVar-EnKF 2008).
